Southcote residents ready to campaign for the extension of the Circuit Lane Surgery

We held a very successful meeting tonight where many Southcote residents took time away from their busy lives to come and support the doctors plans to extend the Circuit Lane surgery. Doctor Horne gave an excellent presentation about the long history of the Circuit Lane surgery and how it needs to extend the surgery to meet the needs of all Southcote residents, including the Underwood Road area.

Doctor Horne made a passionate plea to the PCT onbehalf of the surgeries 10.550 patients who need and deserve District Nurses on site, a Dispensary on site, supported by the local Chemist, blood giving and other services to be undertaken in two extra consultation rooms. Dr Horne said that out of all the doctors surgeries the Circuit Lane has the most room to be able to extend. The surgery has the smallest floor area per patient of any GP surgery in Reading or its neighbours. This is problematic and will lead to the doctors being unable to appropriately deal with the current patients needs and any increasing demand.

The meeting unanimously agreed to launch a petition in the Southcote area and to get as many names as possible by the end of the consultation period. If you want to help with this important campaign for Southcote people then either contact Cllr Pete Ruhemann at 66 Brooksby Road Reading, telephone 0118 9415760 or contact me on this blog. More details will be revealed in the next few days.
