New moves on Happy Prospect site
Vandalism has made the old Happy Prospect an eyesore and a public danger, and over the summer the Council served a formal notice (under Section 215 of the Town & Country Planning Act 1990) on the owners requiring them either to demolish it or secure and tidy the site by end-December. A copy of the notice is attached.
Cllr. Pete Ruhemann says: “Local people will welcome this move, and also the fact that there has not been an appeal, which hopefully means that the owners have accepted the Notice’s terms. The other good news, though, is that agents for the owners have approached Council officers with new plans for the site which we hope will lead to a planning application early in the New Year. A quality development on this site would be a real boost for the estate.”
