Options for new primary school places

Below are some of the options Reading Borough Council will be putting to the following consultations in the next two weeks. We have split the options into the four areas and have included potential new schools as well as expanding community schools. We very much welcome the views of families, teachers, schools and the community on the proposals and further suggestions of sites for potential schools.


OPTIONS FOR NEW PRIMARY SCHOOL PLACES

North

· The Heights Primary Free School : Free School bid by local parents for a new 350 place primary school. A decision on the school and the site by the Department for Education is expected in Summer 2013.
· St Martins Primary Expansion: Expansion of school to 210 places on existing site at Caversham Park Village .
· Possible Community School Expansions: Possible expansion of existing community schools following The Heights decision by DfE.

East

New Town Primary Expansion: Expansion of school to 420 places on existing site.
Alfred Sutton Primary Expansion: Expansion of school to 630 places by extending school.
New Primary School: Possible new school for 420 places on private land at Crescent Road.

South

Geoffrey Field Expansion: Expansion of Geoffrey Field Infant and Junior Schools to 630 places on existing sites at Exbourne Road .
The Ridgeway Primary Expansion: Expansion of the school to 420 places on current site with improved access to site.
New Primary School: New school for 420 places to be situated alongside re-built Reading Girls School .

West

Oxford Road Community School Expansion: Split site expansion of the school for 420 places near existing site. A range of options exist.
EP Collier Primary Expansion: Expansion of school to 420 places on existing site and adjoining buildings.
Southcote Primary Expansion: Expansion of school to 630 places on current site.
Battle Primary Academy Expansion: Expansion of school to 630 places through additional investment in the local area. A range of possible options exist.
Churchend Primary Academy Expansion: Expansion of school to 420 places on adjoining un-used land near The Avenue.
St Michael’s Primary Expansion: Expansion of school to 420 places on existing site.
Moorlands Primary Expansion: Expansion of school to 630 places on existing site.
Ranikhet Primary Expansion: Investment in new school for 630 places as part of the Dee Park Regeneration Project.
New Primary School: New School for 420 places serving area from Oxford Road to Bath Road . A range of possible options exist.
All Saints Infant School Expansion: Expansion of school to 90 places on current and neighbouring sites in Brownlow Road .
Norcot Early Years Centre: New school for 210 places by developing a number of sites around the existing Nursery School area.
