I visited two sites of New Directions tonight to see firsthand the excellent classes and tutoring. I sopke to tutors and learners at New Directions Caversham completing a dressmaking course and I observed an English Spoken as another Language class, discussing the importance of learning English from participants from countries ranging from Poland to Indonesia. I was impressed by the professionalism of the tutors and the purposefulness of the learners. In Whitley I observed pottery classes and upholstery where learners were using chairs found at the tip and used material dumped as waste to recycle and upholster chairs. I was impressed by the resourcefulness of the learners, bringing their own materials with them to make a new chair.
