Southcote Residents at Underwood Road, Vine Crescent oppose the West Berkshire Tory White Elephant Bellway Homes development

Southcote Councillors spent Saturday morning meeting with residents at Underwood Road and Vine Crescent finding out what concerns and views they had in regards to the Bellway Homes development at Underwood Shopping Centre, Underwood Road, Calcot.

The development has proposed 74 properties, mainly flats built up to 4 stories high.

There is a major concern about traffic parking along Underwood Road with over 100 extra vehicles from the development trying to exit onto the Bath Road;

More vehicles will be parking on Carters Rise and Underwood Road;

It seems that the Post Office, Doctors Surgery, Newsagent and an excellent Chinese takeaway will not be included in the development;

The already busy 26 bus will be even more busier, potentially making it harder to get the bus, especially if Reading Buses, under the control of the coalition cut services;

There will be no parking for the school,leading to more congestion.

It is typical of the Tories to allow a private sector to run the show after neglecting the shopping centre for the best part of a decade. The Tories in Calcot don't care about the area and they are recommending a great Tory White Elephant that is going to negatively impact on local residents, with a knock on effect for Southcote.

IT MUST BE OPPOSED.
