Celebrated the first birthday of North Reading Children's Centre
I had the privilege of celebrating the first birthday of the North Reading Children's Centre at Emmer Green on Saturday 9th June. It was great to meet so many children and parents enjoying the excellent facilities and taking part in Parenting Classes and playgroups. There was a small zoo for the children to enjoy the animals and the Play Rangers were on hand to entertain children and families.
In the first year of the Children's Centre there were 5.963 visits from Caversham children, 1.492 new parents using the facilities, 2.419 Play Ranger visits, 375 visits from Dads, over 800 parents/carers registered with the Centre and 520 children registered to use the centre. Today I saw children from all walks of life enjoying themselves together in the sun. Lucy Drake and the staff and Simon, Chair of the Steering Group deserve all the credit with the success of the Children's Centre in which families in Caversham very much cherish.
