The Royals nearly made it

Well, they nearly made it. I thought for one minute that we had got through to the 6th Round for the first time in 83 years, but alas we could not hold the lead for three minutes. Reading played well, with spirit and commitment and Kebe did well to score after only 7 seconds and he terrorised the West Brom defence for most of the match until he was taken off. I was so impressed with Griffin as a defender and going forward, he was a class above the rest. Shane Long, who had a good game until his sending off had to go but we hung in well and improved after they had a player sent off. Church got a bit lucky but took his goal well. However, West Brom are not top of the Championship for nothing and I think we will have to dream about the 6th Round another season.

I am really warming to McDermott and after reading his life in football in one of the match programmes he is right for Reading and I believe we will be ok with him at the helm. I am not sure if we will get many points in the next two games as Crystal Palace should be in the top five the way they play and we will be lucky to come away tomorrow night with a point. Blackpool are a tough proposition and we may struggle without Shane Long, who is suspended. The good news is that QPR are struggling along with Scunthorpe. Who says money buys you success!
