Positive Ofsted for Manor Primary School

Manor Primary School is celebrating a positive Ofsted report and have vowed to further drive up standards to reach 'Outstanding' status. Inspectors visited the school on the 13th and 14th of December 2012, and found that the Reading primary school was good in all assessed areas: Achievement of Pupils; Quality of teaching; Behaviour of pupils; Leadership and management. The inspectors highlighted the progress pupils make at the school: 'Most pupils make good progress across the school and some pupils make outstanding progress, particularly in reading.'
The report also mentions the standard of teaching at the school: 'Most teaching is good and some is outstanding and enables pupils to make, at least good progress.' Pupil's behaviour was also praised in the report: 'Pupils from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds get on well together. They are keen to learn.. Their good behaviour makes an especially strong contribution to their learning.' Head of Manor Primary School, Fiona Swain, said: 'I am extremely proud of the result as it reflects the dedication and commitment of my staff and governors, the hard work of the pupils and support of the parents. Our school motto is 'Making People Successful' and this grading has motivated us further to continue our hard work in providing a memorable and child centred education for our pupils.'
Cllr John Ennis, Lead Councillor for Education and Children's Services, said: 'This is a very positive Ofsted report for Fiona Swain and her team. Reading now has 78% of schools who are graded 'good' or 'outstanding' by Ofsted and we will continue to work hard to push these figures further upward. The Council is committed to working with the head to ensure that they reach their goal of being an outstanding school in future Ofsted reports.'
